'Promotion Needs'
The Client
Seagen is a global biotechnology company and industry leader in developing treatments for cancer.
The Problem
As a long-standing industry leader in the biotech space, Seagen needed to create opportunities for internal promotions amongst its employees. “Our organization was highly tenured,” explained Jeff Duncan, Director at Seagen.
The Solution
For more than five years, The Turk Group has worked with Seagen through one-on-one coaching and bespoke classes. “There was a gap of needing to create aspiring leader training, and James helped to solve that need and create the ALT (aspiring leader training) program,” explained Seagen’s Associate Director and Program Lead Tracy Rubietta. As a result, The Turk Group, “enabled us to create a pool of candidates who were leadership ready and able to assume leadership roles,” Duncan said. “He’s also a great deal of fun to work with, something that is unfortunately in short supply.”
The Results
“James was able to influence an entire group of early-in-career individuals, more than half of whom later became team leaders in the organization,” Duncan said. “Those individuals in turn have become more effective with their teams than they otherwise would have been.”
Rubietta echoed those sentiments, saying, “James has helped to drive both retention and promotion.” Follow-up data suggests that 88% of employees who went through The Turk Group’s ALT program stayed with their employer, and 41% of those who took the courses have been promoted.
