Condé Nast

'A Partner Devoted to Your Success'

The Client

Condé Nast is one of the most legendary names in the media world. Its publications include Architectural Digest, GQ, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Vogue, and Wired.

The Problem

The company wanted to implement a management training program tailored to the needs of Condé Nast and the industry as a whole. The program needed to be on-brand, inspiring, and full of pragmatic skills and relevant tools.

“In a disrupted industry where change is constant, our people have a uniquely challenging and important role as managers,” says Donovan Baddley, Executive Director of Learning and Development at Condé Nast. “We knew that in order to support all of our strategic initiatives, we would need to build leadership skills across all departments and levels of the organization.”

Condé Nast also sought a training partner that really got its audience – and understood that traditional content and methods would probably not capture their imagination.

The Solution

To meet these goals, Condé Nast chose to work with The Turk Group to build two progressive management training workshops, using the latest research and methodology around people management.

“James clearly had the passion, experience, expertise, and insight to help us build a uniquely ‘Condé’ experience for our learners, understanding their specific needs and filters, and fine tuning the learning to excite and inspire them,” Baddley says. “They really go out of their way to understand your business and to build solutions that align perfectly with your specific strategic objectives.”

After the success of the management training workshops, Condé Nast worked with The Turk Group to create and launch a collaborative negotiation workshop. A course about succeeding in a matrixed org structure is also in the works.

The Results

Throughout all of these projects, Condé Nast has found The Turk Group responsive, adaptable, consultative, and well received by employees.

“The groups that have participated in our workshops have had nothing but effusive praise for the sessions and have recommended them to their colleagues and friends,” Baddley says. “The workshops we’ve created are fun, relevant, and memorable, and that keeps people coming back for more.”

Condé Nast is also happy that its programs with The Turk Group have created lasting change.

“We have seen marked improvement in targeted on-the-job skills, and also in developing a culture of continuous learning,” Baddley says. “We hear anecdotal stories all the time about people putting their new skills to good use in their day-to-day work.”

He recommends the Turk Group to any organization looking to create high-caliber learning content.

“As an L&D professional, I have a high level of respect and admiration for the work James and team do, and I would tell any of my L&D peers that The Turk Group is a fantastic collaborative partner,” he says. “And for folks on the business side without an L&D background, I would say that The Turk Group is a best-in-class learning firm, and you can expect a full service turn-key experience with fantastic results.

“The main benefit to working with the Turk Group is that you know you have a partner who is as devoted to your success as you are. James and team have a clear passion for developing extraordinary content that connects, and that really raised the bar in everything we have done together.”
